Biomimicry Guild Costa Rica trip 2007 Alumni, woot woot!!!
I am a sustainability consultant with The Living Enterprise, specializing in sustainable systems, products and services design. I help companies design and implement sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategies and programs based on nature's design principles so that ultimately they can learn, adapt, grow and evolve like a living system or organism.
I give talks on "The Principles of Sustainable Design". If you'd like to see my presentation, just ask!
I am also the Program Director for the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County, Inc. a non profit environmental education and advocacy organization founded in 1965. Feel free to contact me: (914) 422-4053, or Adiel.Gavish@gmail.com
By combining human innovation and intellectual capital with nature's genius, we can achieve "Sheer Greenius"! As proponents of biomimicry and sustainable design, I see it as our job to illuminate businesses to the limitless possibilities of sustainability and innovative design. As creativity expert Gordon MacKenzie said, he "Slipped the bonds of the Hairball of Corporate Normalcy. Ascending into the Orbit...Orbiting is following your bliss." I intend to help individuals and companies find their bliss.
As markets crumble and giants fall, now is the time to embark on a journey of sustainability inspired by the guru of green. We’ve already been cast into uncertainty, why not take a chance and fly, but this time with birds and dandelion seeds as inspiration?(!)
Businesses can look to the principles of sustainable design:
· To help navigate them through the process of developing and implementing a sustainability initiative
· To define short term targets and long term goals
· To lead them in the direction they want to go
· To inform all decision making
· As their core business strategy, values and underlying ethic
· To help their employees better understand sustainability and the new direction their employers are taking
· To benchmark their already established sustainability, corporate social responsibility and climate initiatives
· To provide clarity and coherence on what “going green” means and its potential
· To create cohesion between departments and teams
· As a design model for products, services and holistic systems
· For limitless inspiration
At the end of the day, businesses and individuals can ask themselves one question to determine true “greenness”: “Does my system, product, service, purchase, my choice help to create conditions conducive to life (Janine Benyus) and actually create positive value?"
