David Hammond (davidhammond)

David is an Environmental Chemist with a broad interdisciplinary background in chemical ecology, natural products chemistry, sustainable agriculture, entomology, biological wastewater treatment, international community development, and innovation.  He worked extensively in Mexico and Guatemala, where he founded a non-profit called Altertec, which teaches Permaculture to small farmers.  David has a M.S. from the Energy & Resources Group and a Ph.D. in Agricultural & Environmental Chemistry, both at UC Berkeley, and his research has led to numerous publications and two patents.  He has consulted to private companies such as Nike and IDEO on sustainability and biomimicry and is currently focused on biomimetic strategies for sustainable wastewater treatment through a company he co-founded called, GO2 Water.
