Delfin Montañana (delfin)

Biologist from the Faculty of Science of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Until last year he was working as assistant for research and planning in six different projects, related with the human impact on natural entities, developed at the Laboratory of Ecology at the Faculty of Science in the UNAM. Now he is starting the Master in Urban Development Projects at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), Campus Santa Fe in Mexico City, and he is teaching assistant on two undergraduate courses at the same institution.

In this year he has participated in the Course for Ecological and Environmental Impact and in the Course Scientific, technical and legal aspects for manage of the municipal waste, both courses offered by UNAM. In March 2008 he attended the Urban Arboriculture course, imparted by the Mexican Association of Arboriculture and the Autonomous University of Chapingo.  Two months later he participated in the course Biologists at the Design Table, sponsored by the Biomimicry Institute, Montana, USA.

Since January 2008, he collaborates with two architecture firms, Bunker Arquitectura and Taller 13 Arquitectos, where he develops vegetation diagnoses and evaluations; he is also involved in the design of plant list design in urban and residential landscaping.  Additionally, since the same date he has also been a teaching assistant on two undergraduate courses at the UIA.

In August 2006, jointly with B. A. Raúl de Villafranca, he delivered the lecture The Principle of Biomimicry: Respect for the Wisdom of Natural Systems, in the Course in Sustainable Design and Ecological Building imparted at the UIA. Since then, he has been a member of the Biomimicry Mexico group and has delivered many lectures and courses on Biomimetic Design Theory.
