I am a field biologist, University of Costa Rica alum. I spent 10 years in Costa Rica while obtaining my undergraduate degree and then stayed on to work. I have worked as a GED population biology teacher and as a biology/science teacher in a high school.
I am now back in NJ where I was born and raised teaching Environmental Ed. and I am the liason between the center where I work and a Gifted and Talented Consortium for who I help develop two-day convocations from students in the 4th-8th grades.
I attended a conference lately and was inspired to create a two-day program for 8th grade students in biomimicry. My objective is to introduce them to the concept and have them try to find solutions to problems using their observations about how nature solves them.
Being from Costa Rica, I am familiar with biomimicry and the different uses we give Nature's science in more familiar settings. I'd really like to expose my students to this now.
