Janine,
I am an urban planner/landscape arachitect/biologist and am very interested in your comment about building whole cities which do as well interms of ecosystem services as the native systems that they replace. Where can I look at some of the ecological performance standards that you referred to? I am in the process of writing a renewable energy systems code for the City I work for and would like to incorporate this idea of ecological performance standards for our City. Thank you. Lauren |

Ms. Janine Benyus,
My name is Merve. I am a student third class department of Biology on Sakarya University in Turkey. I love a lot a lot a lot a lottttt biomimicry.I want to that my friends learn biomimicry. I request that you give us a video conference about biomimicry. If you accept my request, I will be very happy. I hope, you accept my video conference desire. In fact, I would like to meet you. I will wait for your response. |

Hello Janine!
My heart is set on biomimicry! Unfortunately I am now very torn on what to study at university (I am currently in my last year at school). What I would like to do is specialise in an area of science including chemistry and biology, then help work in the field of biomimicry. Would you have any suggestions for me? Sorry for the broad question :S I am in a rather tricky situation :( and thank you for your time! -Margaux |

Hi Janine,
As many of you other followers I was very intrigued by one of your talks specifically the one in Bar Harbor in June. I am currently a senior marine biology major and I had never heard of biomimicry until Sean Todd had me attend your talk. I am interested in learning more and possibly pursuing a career in this field. I was wondering if you could help me by enlightening me on how to "get a foot in the door"? Or at least a start to a path I could take? How do I get started in this field? Thank you, |

Hello Janine, I am blessed and honored to have been enlightened by what you have said in your talks, videos and books. I want to get more exposure in this field, I will be a college grad with a degree in Nanotechnology/ Life Biomedical Sciences minoring in Environmental Studies..
I've applied for the biomimicry program but i did not get selected.. I want to get out there and learn i've read books now i really want to be out there and learn in Nature.. what programs/ people could i talk to in order to do this? Thanks so much |

Hi Janine, I heard you speak at a Green Building conference in Philadelphia last year and, to be honest, I had a hard time "connecting" to your talk that day . . . then I read your book!! That book grabbed me like few books I have read. Great job! I encourage you to engage with policy-makers in Washington (I currently work at EPA) as new "climate-energy" legislation develops. Also, my son is a freshman at (SCAD) Savannah College of Art and Design - are you scheduled to give any talks there in the coming year? The creative ferment at SCAD is palpable!

Hi Janine,
I was inspired to pursue biomimicry from your talk at TED in July 09. I am now forming a non-profit to get more involved. Thank you for your leadership! In my local energy/sustainability community at Bloomington, Indiana, I am putting together a series of talks/tours throughout Earth Week 2010. Would you or someone else with Ask Nature be available for a 30-min presentation in our town on one of those days? This would be between Saturday April 17th thru Friday April 23rd. Any expenses would be covered. I am a California-native, and have been very impressed with the level of passion/involvement in Bloomington since I moved here a few years ago. I think you & AskNature would be too. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you, Ted Mendoza ted.mendoza@gengee.com |

Querida Janine, Biomimicry has become the most resourceful, oportunistic and tuned to Mexico´s places. Since we met in USGB @ Atlanta 2005, today, after many leverage and collaborative actions and three keystone workshop's held succesfully in Mexico/Veracruz's 10 ecosystems and three natural protected areas transect; more than 90 new biomimicry users are applying it in so many diferent working fields, heading innovative aproaches to ecological decision making, design solutions and conservation efforts. Begining with Keystone pioneer Dayna many other Biomimicry Institute's cross-pollinator champions migrate seasonally (Bryony, Karen A., Denise, Cindy, Megan, and Chris). They have become part of our new Biomimicry community in México. Congratulations to you and your great team !

Missing the idea Exaptación, ie the fact reused in a completely new one, all or parts of structures, solutions and resources in another environment or otherwise. Is a substantial part of the evolutionary strategies and a creatively interesting since by its nature is not different in a single collection of possible combinations resulting |

The things in Spain seems to begin to change! |

Your story at Greenbuild about the community in the field touched many people - I could picture my own field, which fell to a similar fate. Thanks for setting this up - it's an amazing tool. Imagine if Frank Lloyd Wright had known E.O. Wilson!

Was inspired by your talk at Greenbuild. Look forward to networking on AskNature.org in design implementation of our alternative energy innovation called SolAirOTEC. Thank you for doing what you do.

Great job at Greenbuild! My whole office was mesmerized as we watched via live feed.

I hope your lecture with EO is as fabulous as I am sure it will be. This website is very rich....congratulations! I am onward with many endeavors, and always remember your support.
Keep at least a toe on the ground. |

I must say that I have been poking around the alpha version of this website for some months, and seeing this new beta version is unbelievable. It is beautiful, informative, and easy to use. I am currently working on my thesis, using Biomimicry to create sustainable architecture, and this site has been an invaluable resource. Thank you and please let me know if there is anyway I can contribute.
