I am a specialized generalist, with interests in evolution and ecology that lead me to new adventures. Work that makes me grin is when I'm conducting ecological assessments for Master plans for communities, campuses and preserves- which means I'm in the woods collecting stories for the Homo sapiens who have hired me.
I also work consulting for Architects to create buildings that fit place while preserving their existing habitats and fostering their long-term development. Most of these projects have had children and their education as the focus, to which my own teaching experience adds value. When I'm not consulting for Architects I fill my time with teaching; pruning, permaculture and organic gardening, and designing residential landscapes. I also write articles for my blog and my book.

I am a total plant nerd and recite botanical Latin at night instead of counting sheep. I see plants grow, but I'm becoming more and more a people person as I develop a total fascination for them. I have always found Homo sapiens sapiens to be the most unpredictable and strange species on the planet, and trying to figure out their ecological role has become my latest obsession.
I also have a love for creating sculpture, so in my free time I sneak out to the co-op studio where I can join my artist community and play. My inspiration for my sculptures come from the ocean, plants, and the world of the microscopic.

Hey Jen, I think the Alumni Gathering is going to spur our further conversations here on AskNature. Nice picture by the way!
