I am a writer and filmmaker living in San Francisco. I am also a cyclist who has discovered that the bike I want doesn't exist. This is what has led me to Biomimicry. I began a blog with the stated goal of building a tribe of cyclists and designers who's passion could be translated into the creation of a Biomimicry designed bicycle.

Hello, Aaron -- Are you aware of Theo Jensen's work in developing the Strandbeests? He has essentially arrived at a walking mechanism that is an alternative to the wheel. I have designed and built models (actual and CAD) of human-powered vehicles using this approach. Such systems have significant advantages over wheels in rough and/or soft terrain. But it's not really suitable if you looking to construct a "road" bike. -- Dan
