Academic Director of Sustainability and Director of the Center for Sustainable Design Studies and Research at Pratt Institute Leading effort to integrate sustainable design into the curricula of Pratt's four schools - Art and Design, Architecture, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Library Science. We are also using our campus as a living lab which links academics to operations as we "green" our campus. We are also creating partnerships within the NYC community to help Brooklyn and NY become a role model for sustainability in the urban environment.
Biomimicry is one of the leading concepts we are using to help stimulate and sensitize our students to design in the natural world. We are creating the "Leonardo Lab" which will house a collection of natural objects and work inspired by nature. We have multiple classes that use the concepts of biomimicry as a core.
Pratt's faculty and alumni are "experts" in creating our lifestyles. We are architects, product designers, fashion designers, graphic designers, media designers, exhibition designers and interface designers as well as sculptors, painters, animators, filmmakers. We have an opportunity to rethink our work and our world to inspire a better life.
