About
I'm an architect with extensive experience in the sustainable design of buildings, communities and businesses. My background includes serving as founding Secretary and Executive Director of the World Green Building Council, a Principal with the Green Development Services team at Rocky Mountain Institute, the Director of Building Futures Services for David Gottfried (the founder of the USGBC and WorldGBC), the “EarthSmart Ambassador” at Portland General Electric, and a senior project architect at Gensler. I have a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University. I'm a LEED AP and in 2004 I was named a Fulbright Senior Specialist.

I first read Biomimicry in 1998, and have been a huge advocate since. It is the most intelligent and promising -- and "fecund" (to use McDonough's word) -- strategy going. While at RMI I had the great pleasure of working on projects with Janine and Dana, and supporting the development and promotion of biomimicry. I'm looking forward to helping this effort grow further.

I'm currently focused on creating a "beneficial social virus"—a highly effective place on the web for green building, where community, knowledge and tools will work seamlessly together. The goal is to massively improve access to credible green building practices and to leverage their effectiveness. Ask Nature could be a key member of such a community.
