What motivates Jamie Miller are the issues surrounding the social and environmental impacts of applied technology in a global context.
After a degree in Civil
(Environmental) Engineering at Queen's University, Jamie found a way to
integrate his motivations into a Master's of Engineering. His thesis research focused on the creation of a
new engineering program called Humanitarian Engineering. During
his time at Queen's, Jamie worked in Indonesia and Sri Lanka on separate
tsunami-relief collaborations, helped on several curricula reformations and was course coordinator and lecturer of a
first-year engineering course of Professional Engineering. With a stint at Environment Canada's Greenhouse Gas division, Jamie has returned to work with biomimicry in education and biomimicry for basic human needs at the University of Guelph and and continues to share biomimicry on behalf of the Guild as a trained member of the Biomimicry Speakers Bureau.
