Hi there

Im an industrial design student from johannesburg, South Africa, im in my final year of studies. The nearer i get to the end of my degree the more i think of which field of product design i would like to go into, i have taken a kean interest in biomimicry and am reading and researching as much as i can on how to incorporate this ideal way of mimicking from nature  into my designs to make them better,enviromentally friendly, more efficient, longer lasting and so on ! it amazes me how the answers to so many of the problems we face as designers ,engineers,biologist scientists and so on stare at us every day in the face, we walk past trees, little bugs, watch birds fly past but yet we miss vital clues and problem solving solutions on a daily basis, sometimes people spend there whole lives in a career trying to solve a problem they could have sorted out just by observing better.
I joined this site because i want to learn to observe,learn to appreciate and learn to explore natures solutions to our problems. i want to find out how to apply techniques of this nature in my future career as a designer. I want to found out new ways of manufacture,cheaper ways,more enviromentally friendly ways, I want to be able to look at a natural organism and see it for wat it truely is ,why it runs the way it does,why a plant is shaped the way it is ,what caused these organsism to be the way they are. I want my knowledge to expand on so many levels because as a young designer i have to start now in looking into alternative ideas for products in the future because right now we are heading down a dangerous path and by coming up with a possible solution to something it is better than having no helping solution at all ! i would like to find out what other people say about all these things and what they think and interact and communicate with them on these topics and more !  I am lucky enough to have grown up in a country that has an extremely diverse eco system and im looking forward to being able to go out there and look at the finer details by getting information and key pointers that could guide me into being a great designer that will be enviromentally conscious and provide sustainable products.
